As a Learning Strategist, Ikee Gibson supports students across Woodsworth College in developing more intentional approaches to university learning. His work focuses on helping students build systems and scaffolding around their academic lives, including ways of organizing their time, approaching difficult coursework, making sense of expectations, and knowing what to fall back on when things do not go according to plan. He encourages students to think strategically about their academic journey rather than treating each assignment, course, or challenge in isolation.

Ikee is a PhD candidate in Sociology at the University of Toronto, currently in the final stages of his doctoral studies. He has teaching experience at U of T as a course instructor in the Sociology of Education, as well as extensive experience as a teaching assistant across courses ranging from statistics and research methods to introductory and senior-level sociology. He has also worked as a research assistant, program evaluator, curriculum developer, and weekly workshop facilitator for students in the Transitional Year Program at UTSC. These experiences have given him a broad view of how students encounter university learning, where they tend to get stuck, and the kinds of supports that can help them move forward.

Welcome to the Woodsworth College Academic Writing Centre!

The Woodsworth College Academic Writing Centre offers one-on-one help with all aspects of writing in all subjects, at all stages of the writing process: understanding the assignment, developing a thesis and an argument, citing sources correctly, organizing, drafting, revising, and editing. 

We will coach you, prompting you to refine and clarify your thinking; we will teach you the skills you need to practice to become a better writer; we won’t tell you what to think or what to say, or edit or correct your work. 

We teach more than just writing! We can also help you improve other key academic skills: critical reading and thinking, lecture-listening, note-taking, making seminar presentations, preparing for tests and exams, and more.

There are three types of Writing Centre appointments:

1. In-person consultations*: offered in Room WW100;
2. Online: synchronous, live-chat consultations;
3. eTutoring: asynchronous, document-only appointments, without live chat.  

*Please note that, due to building construction, only one entrance from St. George will be available to get to the Old House building within the College. 

When booking an appointment at the Writing Centre, be sure to notice whether you’re selecting an in-person, online, or e-tutoring appointment!

The Woodsworth College Math Learning Centre operates on a drop-in basis. Students who are learning math
in any course at any level are welcome! 

You are welcome to visit us at any of the following times from Monday, September 14 until Friday, December 4:

In-person hours for Fall/Winter 2026-2027:

• Tuesdays, 2 - 4 pm in room WW123.

Online hours for Fall/Winter 2026-2027:

• Mondays, 5 - 7 pm: Please log in using this Zoom link.

December 2026 Exam Period:

• Math Learning Centre hours for the December exam period will be posted here at the end of November, 2026.
