Orange Shirt Day National Day for T&R

September 30th- National Day of Truth and Reconciliation

September 28, 2021

In recognition of this day, Woodsworth College is pleased to present the lecture, Indigenous Geographies of Toronto: Past, Present, and Future

Lecture Poster: Indigenous Geographies of Toronto: Past, Present, and Future

On Orange Shirt Day, we acknowledge the negative impacts of the residential school system on Indigenous communities and redouble our efforts to support decolonization and the implementation of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s 94 Calls to Action. While residential schools sought to undermine Indigenous Knowledge and accomplishment, Toronto is a city that has been indelibly shaped by generations of Indigenous presence. In this previously recorded talk, Dr. Jon Johnson shares stories of Indigenous histories and geographies of the Toronto area and the ways these are influencing the contemporary and future landscapes of the city.
