Happy Birthday, U of T!
University of Toronto is celebrating its 192nd birthday on March 15, 2019.
Today is U of T’s 192nd birthday!
To celebrate, we are sharing this small piece of U of T and Woodsworth College’s history for this week's “Flashback Friday.”
This is a photo of a 1986 advertisement for Woodsworth College and U of T in a Toronto subway station. Woodsworth’s history extends back to 1963, when part-time students petitioned to have a college of their own. In 1974, Woodsworth College opened and became home to U of T’s part-time student population.
In 1999, Woodsworth began accepting full-time students, and today the College supports both full-time and part-time students, mature students, student parents, international students, and more. Despite these changes and developments, Woodsworth College still has the largest number of part-time students of all the downtown colleges at U of T.
This year, Woodsworth College is celebrating its 45th anniversary. You can read more about our history on the About Woodsworth page.
