Congratulations Woodsworth graduates!
Read about some of our June 2019 graduates!
Close to 900 Woodsworth College students graduated yesterday. Among them was Charmaine Nyakonda, a Dean's List Scholar who graduated with a double major in Health Studies and Neuroscience.
In addition to her academic achievements, Charmaine was engaged in a community-based research project at St. Michael’s Hospital through U of T's Centre for Community Partnerships. On May 1, 2019, she was the recipient of a Community Engaged Learning Award.
"I came to the University of Toronto seeking to contribute to the well being of the community around me," says Charmaine. "The fact that my college also shared the value of community made it much easier to be as involved as I was during my U of T undergraduate experience," she adds. "Being a Woodsworth student continually inspired me to be an open minded and reflective learner."
Talise Beveridge graduated yesterday with a double major in English and History and a minor in American Studies. A Dean's List Scholar for several years running, Talise held a Research Fellowship at the Jackman Humanities Institute in 2018 - 2019 where she was engaged in a close reading of FBI COINTELPRO documents. Talise was also involved in volunteer work both on- and off-campus, all while juggling two on-campus jobs.
Talise looks forward to beginning her Master's degree at Oxford University, England, this fall. You can read more about Talise on the Arts & Science News website.
Congratulations, Charmaine and Talise!
