50th Anniversary Memory: Deb Devgan (BA 1984)
Fond, fond memories of UofT and Woodsworth.
Did do my degree over 5yrs part-time while working in marketing up the street on St. George. While the degree included politics, psychology and sociology, my focus was the Cinema Programme at Innis College. Prof. Bart Testa was a favourite. As well, the old Innis Pub was a great place to eat and socialize.
I personally enjoyed the Toronto Reference Library for research and studying however, my own Campus Co-op Housing was really a favourite spot!
Lived in both the dorm-style houses on Spadina and the apartment-style housing on Sussex Ave. Near both Woodsworth and Innis.
I do see old classmates, as we age the world becomes smaller and smaller!
After Graduation
In 1990, after working in the family's business, made my way to New York City and found my first job in film production. I worked in the film and TV business in NYC then returned to Toronto after 9/11. Had the opportunity to produce award-winning documentaries for CBC, TVO and OMNI TV. After a stint as a Law Clerk here in Toronto, I was lured back to service production work, including mostly streaming productions. Just returned from the St. John's International Women's Film Festival to pitch a couple of animation projects, and there I met the festival founder and professor of film at Memorial University who knew Prof. Bart Testa! Small world!
