Woodsworth Grad Profile: Setareh Malekian
Meet Setareh Malekian a recent graduate of the Class of 2022!
Setareh Malekian graduated with her Honours Bachelor of Science degree - with High Distinction - at this year's June convocation. We asked her a few questions about her time at the College, her future plans, and what she is most proud of having accomplished during her time as an undergraduate. Here are her responses:
1. What is a memory of your time at Woodsworth College that stands out for you?
“The first day of Orientation Week was one of the most memorable experiences throughout my undergraduate career. Seeing all the students in the courtyard mingling and getting to know each other encouraged me to talk to new people and meet new friends. It felt like I had found a community on this vast campus. Throughout Orientation Week, I met many people and participated in many fun activities. I saw familiar faces all over campus in the next four years, thanks to Orientation Week, which was very nice.”
2. What accomplishments are you particularly proud of in your time as an undergraduate student?
“I was fortunate to participate in research as an undergraduate student. Taking a fourth-year research project allowed me to apply what I had learned in the classroom in a wet lab setting. I was able to get a snapshot of what it is like to be a scientist and improve my reading and writing skills. This was one of the most significant experiences of my Bachelor's degree as I was able to contribute to the body of science.”
3. Do you have any plans for after you graduate?
“At the moment, I am taking a gap year to try new things and see new places before going back to school. As I begin this new journey, I hope to apply the skills I have gained at UofT to help others and positively impact the world around me.”
Congratulations Setareh!
