A new board was elected at the recent Alumni Association AGM

The 2022-23 Woodsworth College Alumni Association Board of Directors

Sofiya Datsyuk, President
Sofiya Datsyuk has worked in management and project support at an entrepreneurial boutique securities law firm for over six years. She obtained her Honours Bachelor degree from the University of Toronto in 2015, double majoring in Political Science and Criminology & Sociolegal Studies. Sofiya has served on the Woodsworth College Alumni Association board of directors since 2018, serving previously as Secretary and Vice President.   

Huda Henry-Riyad, Vice President
Dr. Huda Henry-Riyad is the Co-Founder & CEO of The Key Group International Inc., a strategic political and corporate consulting firm. Dr. Henry-Riyad credits Woodsworth College for the start of her career journey where she enrolled in 1997 as a special student. She went on to complete her Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry and started her entrepreneurship journey in 2005. Dr. Henry-Riyad has extensive executive experience in research, publishing, and strategic organization. She served on multiple boards in both Canada and the US for educational, community, and mental health causes.

Maina Rambali, Treasurer
Maina Rambali is a finance and accounting professional for publicly traded mining companies. Most recently Maina held positions as Treasurer and Controller at Harte Gold Corporation. Previously she was Accounting Manager at Global Atomic Corporation. Maina has extensive experience in treasury management, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting. Maina graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce degree in 2016 from Woodsworth College, University of Toronto. As a proud alumna, Maina is actively engaged as a mentor in the Hart House Mentorship program. Currently, she also serves as a board member and Treasurer on a Toronto Standard Condominium Corporation.

Katelyn Leonard, Secretary
Katelyn has been a member of the Woodsworth College Alumni Association Board of Directors for three years and sits on the board’s Governance and Nomination Committee. She is a lawyer practicing in the areas of competition and foreign investment, intellectual property, and litigation, and previously worked for the provincial government on business and organizational strategy. While a student of Woodsworth College, Katelyn studied criminology and history.

Erin Rud-Thompson, Past President
Erin graduated from Woodsworth College in 2014 with Honours B.A. (Specialist in Philosophy).    She is currently the Vice President Of Finance And Operations at WD Numeric Corporate Services.  Erin has been on the Woodsworth College Alumni Association board since 2015. 

Directors-at-Large

Jasmine Attfield
Jasmine was an active member of the Woodsworth College community from 2007-2011, including as Editor-in-Chief of the Woodsworth Howl and as Lead Coordinator for Orientation 2011. After graduation, Jasmine studied law with a focus on public law and legal research. Her passion for access to justice law reform has led her to a career in legislative affairs at Queen’s Park. Jasmine is also an avid volunteer, working primarily with youth empowerment and immigration settlement service organizations.

Dan Choi
Daniel Choi graduated from Woodsworth College in 2016 with a BA in philosophy. He also completed a MA researching normative ethics and then worked in database operations at the Ontario Medical Association. He recently completed his JD and will be working in the capital markets group at an international law firm. He currently serves as a Chair at the Ontario Bar Association and on the Governance Committee at Boxing Ontario. He loves boxing, trying new restaurants, and has a dog named Bok Choi. 

Natalie Hoffmann
Natalie graduated from Woodsworth College in 2017. After completing her MSc at the University of British Columbia, she returned to UofT to pursue a PhD in the Department of Cell & Systems Biology, focusing on plant biology. She is passionate about science outreach, including being an executive member for Science Rendezvous at UofT, which promotes elementary and high school students’ involvement in the sciences. In addition, she is a committee member on the Cell & Systems Biology Mental Wellness committee, which provides resources and workshops to support mental wellbeing.

Qazi Hassan Manzoor
Born and raised in Pakistan, Qazi came to Canada as a 17-year-old to pursue undergraduate studies at Woodsworth College. After completing an Honors Bachelor's degree in 2008, with a double major in Economics and Employment Relations and a minor in Political Science, Qazi pursued a Master of Human Resources at King’s College London. His professional career in Human Resources spans over 12 years in various countries with Fortune 500 companies like Coca-Cola, Reckitt Benckiser, L’Oréal, Amazon, and currently with Shopify, where he is Director of Talent. Qazi is honoured to be a part of the Board of Directors for the Woodsworth College Alumni Association (WCAA) and looks forward to being part of the vibrant community that served him well during his undergraduate studies.

Laura Scarlett Martin
Laura Martin is an accomplished entrepreneur and alumna of Woodsworth College’s Academic Bridging Program. Since graduating with a double major in Psychology and Cognitive Science in 2016, Ms. Martin has worked as COO at Matrix Mortgage Global. By implementing her knowledge of organizational psychology, Ms. Martin achieved a 5-year revenue growth of 710% and led Matrix to become Canada’s #1 Mortgage Brokerage. In 2020, Laura developed Lingo Learn, an ESL start-up, with her partner, Luis Escobar. As CEO of Lingo Learn, she employs 15 teachers and educates over 500 ESL students to communicate and thrive at work and in life. She is truly driven to help others succeed and looks forward to building community and awareness through the WCAA.

May Xuan
May Xuan is a tax professional at a public accounting firm. Her practice focuses on all aspects of income tax for the financial service industry, including advisory, compliance and tax audits. May graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce degree in 2016 from Woodsworth College, University of Toronto. She then obtained a Master of Taxation degree from the University of Waterloo and a CPA designation.
