Academic Bridging
November 30, 2020

Prof. Paola Bohórquez specializes in teaching English and critical academic literacies in multilingual contexts.

On July 1st of this year the College welcomed a new faculty member to our ranks.

Paola Bohórquez is cross-appointed between Woodsworth College and the English Language Learning Program in the Faculty of Arts and Science.

At Woodsworth, she teaches both in the Academic Bridging Program and the Woodsworth Writing Centre.

Paola holds a Ph.D. from York University in Social and Political Thought and has taught in the fields of cultural studies, rhetoric and composition, and applied linguistics. Her current scholarly work focuses on curriculum innovations for teaching English and critical academic literacies in multilingual contexts.

In addition to her course directorship in Contemporary Canada, Professor Bohórquez coordinates the Read, Write, Research Lab ―a new pedagogical initiative that accompanies each course offering in the Academic Bridging Program.  This initiative provides supports to students in the program in active reading, critical inquiry, and writing within the curriculum. TheLab weaves these critical literacies with the process of learning disciplinary content while promoting practices of academic exchange.

Welcome Paola to the Woodsworth family!
