Damien Boltauzer’s Adventure
A Follow Up from Last Year’s Posting
As we reported last summer, Damien Boltauzer, a fourth year Woodsworth College student majoring in Religious Studies and Anthropology, was the 2018 recipient of the University of Toronto Excellence Award in Social Sciences and Humanities. This scholarship provides undergraduate students with opportunities for research experience to augment the formal research courses offered by U of T.
We heard about Damien’s research interests and plans last summer as he set out to the Himalayan regions of the Himachal Pradesh and Ladakh in north-west India to investigate sacred Buddhist spaces and geography in these regions. Now, he is sharing his experience and findings from his 3-month research trip, which you can access through the Centre for Buddhist Studies website.
Damien’s experience is an incredible example of the opportunities available for students to take their learning, passions, and interests outside of a traditional classroom setting to expand their academic experience.

New grad Youness Robert-Tahiri explores how comedy can help kids cope with trauma
Youness Robert-Tahiri has never taken the conventional path — and it’s exactly that journey that’s shaped him into the advocate he is today.
Graduating this month as a member of U of T’s Woodsworth College with a major in psychology, Robert-Tahiri is determined to support children who have experienced adversity, helping them build resilience and coping skills using a perhaps unexpected tool: improv comedy.
