Alumni Opportunity: Get Involved in Governing Council
Are you an alumni member committed to the mission of Canada’s leading institution of learning, discovery, and knowledge creation? Are you looking for a way to make a significant volunteer contribution to the University of Toronto?
Read below about two distinguished volunteer opportunities available with the U of T Governing Council.
Two Alumni Spots on the Governing Council
Two alumni members of Governing Council will be elected by the College of Electors on February 22, 2024. Each seat is for a three-year term beginning July 1, 2024 and ending June 30, 2027. The two incumbent Alumni Governors are eligible to seek re-election.
The College of Electors is seeking candidates who are inspired to enrich the University with special perspectives, experiences, and connections; who will actively participate in the governance of the University; and who will reflect the diversity of the University’s alumni.
This year there is particular interest in recruiting outstanding alumni who: reflect the diversity and lived experience of the University’s alumni; may contribute to the further diversification of ideas; and are in their mid-career and beyond.

Call for Nominations for University of Toronto Chancellor
The Chancellor Search Committee of the College of Electors invites nominations for the position of Chancellor of the University of Toronto for a three-year term, ideally commencing July 1, 2024.
The Chancellor is the titular head of the University, and, with the President and the Chair and Vice-Chair of the Governing Council, represents the University to the external community. In this role, the Chancellor is an advocate for the vision of the University as it is articulated by the President and endorsed by the Governing Council. They play an essential ambassadorial role in advancing the University’s interests within the local, provincial, national and international arenas.
Nominations will continue to be accepted by the Chancellor Search Committee until the Committee makes its recommendation to the College of Electors, the body responsible for the election of the Chancellor.

New grad Youness Robert-Tahiri explores how comedy can help kids cope with trauma
Youness Robert-Tahiri has never taken the conventional path — and it’s exactly that journey that’s shaped him into the advocate he is today.
Graduating this month as a member of U of T’s Woodsworth College with a major in psychology, Robert-Tahiri is determined to support children who have experienced adversity, helping them build resilience and coping skills using a perhaps unexpected tool: improv comedy.
