Annual Saul Goldstein Memorial Lecture

Join us in-person or online for the Annual Saul Goldstein Memorial Lecture on Tuesday, October 24th at 5:00 PM.

Karen Kubey, Assistant Professor, John H. Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape, and Design at the University of Toronto will speak on "Architecture and the Global Fight for Housing Justice." This event is co-sponsored by Woodsworth College and its Alumni Association.

How might housing projects, and the design processes behind them, be interventions towards greater social equity?  Responding to growing housing insecurity worldwide, architects are adopting a collaborative approach. By partnering with allied fields, working with residents, and leveraging new funding systems and policies, they are contributing to the right to housing for all. Kubey will share international research from her book, Housing as Intervention: Architecture towards Social Equity, alongside her own speculative design work for West Oakland, California, "Aging Against the Machine," originally exhibited at the Center for Architecture in New York. What is at stake is not only an urgent contribution to the field of architecture, but also critical material in the global fight for housing justice.
