First-Year Mentorship Programming
Making the transition from high school to University can be intimidating. Get the support you need to smooth your transition to Woodsworth College.
Are you a first-year student looking for guidance?
Woodsworth College's First-Year Mentorship Program (FYMP) helps you transition to life at the University of Toronto.
Through this program, you can:
-
Address the challenges that arise while you make the transition from high school to full or part-time studies at the University of Toronto.
-
Achieve academic, social, and personal success as a new university student.
-
Work with mentors that will help you learn and grow through guidance, communication, and leadership of a supportive community.
How does it work?
The First-Year Mentorship program will help you find guidance and community through mentorship and events.
Mentors
Mentors serve as co-anchors and guides to incoming students, helping you overcome the challenges of first year with careful guidance and positive support.
The program is run using a group mentorship format. With a group of other incoming students, you will be matched with a pair of mentors.
Monthly Meet-ups
The Mentorship Coordinator, Jordyn Galway, will host weekly one-hour “drop-in style” sessions where both mentors and mentees can drop by anytime and ask questions/chat. For those who are unable to attend the scheduled timeframe, you can book an appointment by emailing wdw.mentorship@utoronto.ca.
Events
In addition to the monthly meet-ups, the mentorship program hosts academic and social events that will occur on a monthly basis:
- These events are a great way to meet other mentees and mentors who are not in your group!
- Events can be a fun way to learn more about the city, like a walk through Kensington market, one of Toronto's most vibrant and diverse neighbourhoods, minutes away from our campus!
