J. Barbara Rose

Associate Professor, Teaching Stream

J. Barbara Rose was an Associate Professor, Teaching Stream at Woodsworth College. She was the Associate Director of the Academic Writing Centre that serves the academic skills and writing needs of students at Woodsworth College.

From 2015 to 2018, she facilitated the Writing Support Program for the Faculty of Law at the University of Toronto.

From 2003 to 2011, she served as the Academic Co-ordinator of the outreach project, University in the Community, a ten-week humanities course for adults outside of the university who would not otherwise have the opportunity to take university courses. From 2011-2015, Barbara was the Faculty Advisor for Enactus (formerly SIFE), a student based group with a mandate focusing on entrepreneurship, sustainability, and community based projects.

Barbara was also the Editor-in-Chief of VOX, an academic undergraduate journal for Woodsworth students that highlighted academic achievements in writing. In 2017, together with Dr. Beth Fischer, she launched a new academic journal, FORUM, highlighting the work of students in the Woodsworth One program.

Awards & Recognition
In 2012, J. Barbara Rose was awarded the John Dobson ACE Fellowship for her outstanding contributions to Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) University of Toronto.

For the 2006-2007 year, Barbara received the SAC-APUS Undergraduate Teaching Award for ENG185Y.

In 2006, she was a recipient of the Arbor Award at the University of Toronto.

In 2004, she was the recipient of the Joan E. Foley Quality of Student Experience Award.
