Biography: I graduated from U of T in 2002 and went on to earn my MDiv in 2007. I was ordained and have been active in ministry since 2008, mostly in northern and rural locations across Manitoba, Ontario, and now in SE Saskatchewan. I earned my Doctorate (DMin – Preaching) in 2015, all the while navigating how a learning disability changes how I approach both my own work and how it is perceived in the communities and conversations.
My LD was not documented until after high school, so my coping mechanisms are a reliable fall back, but this has led to challenges, as well, both in the world, and in my own perceptions.
This has also led to great opportunities in that I am able to bring different perceptions to conversations and to projects along the way. I believe my LD has not only led to different opportunities, but also different ways of seeing the world around me.
Throughout this time, I've enjoyed the variety of ways that I have been able to meet and encourage people in their walks of life, as well as in their accomplishments in academia and their chosen occupations.
Hobbies: My hobbies are centered around personal care and so include crochet, knitting, and needlework as meditative activities. I also enjoy walking and photography.
I've worked across two different denominations in 17 years, and currently provide services on an as needed basis for three different denominations, all in an effort to encourage peoples spiritual lives and knowledge.
Why I Mentor: I like to mentor because I like to see people engage in their own journeys of self-discovery and where their dreams and ambitions are able to take them in their own lives.
