Biography: Jasmin Akbari is a thoughtful, driven, and collaborative HR professional. She is currently part of Manulife’s HR Accelerator program, a rotational program designed to develop future HR leaders through diverse experiences across the organization.

Jasmin earned her Honours Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto, majoring in Industrial Relations and Human Resources (IRHR) with double minors in Digital Humanities and Writing & Rhetoric. A Woodsworth College student, she decided to pursue a Master’s degree at U of T to deepen and broaden her knowledge of HR. She completed her Master of Industrial Relations and Human Resources with a collaborative specialization in the Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy’s Harney Program. During her time in the program, she served as President of the Master’s Student Association, leading initiatives to strengthen community and professional development.

Her professional background includes internships with Deloitte Canada and the Ministry of the Attorney General, along with roles in Canadian startups and the University of Toronto. Jasmin is especially passionate about integrating change enablement, data-driven insights, and equity, diversity, and inclusion into HR practices to help organizations thrive.

Why I mentor: I met my first mentor when I was in high school, to this day, she had been one of the most important people in my life. Her mentorship and belief in me is why I chose to be a mentor. Having someone who roots and cheers for you is incredibly valuable.

Hobbies: I love hiking with my German shepherd. We always like to explore new trails. I love to cook, I enjoy experimenting and sharing meals with friends.
