Program updates and call for mentors

This year's program was conducted entirely within a virtual environment.  Nonetheless, the program attracted thirty mentees and mentors.  The pairs were able to meet each other on a variety of digital platforms.  Students came from an array of academic backgrounds and alumni mentors were likewise from a diverse cross-section of industries and professions.

We were thrilled to have been able to engage the services of  Sandra Kahale of OnWord Consulting for our two mentorship program events this year.  Sandra provided excellent facilitation for our opening and closing interactive networking events.  The events were naturally conducted via Zoom.

Sandra provided us with engaging and interactive exercises and in small break-out rooms, participants were able to reflect on their mentorship journeys -- what was learned and how the experience helped both mentees and mentors in their continued career development.

Woodsworth College is very grateful to have had the program and its events underwritten by the sponsorship of MBNA Mastercard®.  Please take a moment to review the amazing offerings that MBNA provides to U of T alumni.

If you are an alumnus/a and would like to participate in the program as an alumni mentor, please do get in touch with us

Cancer researcher, entrepreneur and Justin Bieber’s DJ: A&S alum Amir Alam is a man of many talents

December 9, 2024

Amir Alam’s journey to the Faculty of Arts & Science started with a bet.

As a teenager, his love for creating music was ignited one night when he saw a DJ spinning records for a raucous crowd. He struck a deal with his mother: if he got accepted to every major Canadian university he applied to, she would buy him his first set of turntables. He won the wager after fast-tracking his last year of high school and receiving an offer of admission from U of T (along with other top-ranked schools) a few months later.
