Tanya Hyland has joined Woodsworth College as a Learning Strategist, in partnership with Accessibility Services.
As a Learning Strategist, Tanya works one to one with students from Woodsworth College and students referred by Accessibility Services. She meets with students to assess and practice academic skills related to time management, note taking and test-taking. She has significant experience in supporting students with disabilities with goal-setting, meeting deadlines and exploring adaptive technology.
Tanya also develops and delivers academic skills workshops in collaboration with Woodsworth College Faculty, the Dean of Students and Registratial staff, to meet the diverse needs of Woodsworth students.
Tanya comes to Woodsworth from Accessibility Services (UoFT) where she was a Disability Counsellor for 13 years, with expertise in working with students with coplex mental health issues, visual disabilities and chronic health issues.
She has been a frequent presenter at local and national conferences on issues related to disability and academic accommodation, transitions to post-secondary as well as collaborations with campus partners, such as residences and Student Health and Wellness.
