Educational platform allows students to collaborate and share study resources
Jack Tai (WDW 2010) had always thought that he would be an entrepreneur so after graduating with a degree in statistics and economics he co-founded OneClass, an online lecture note sharing site. His co-founders are Kevin Wu (also a 2010 Woodsworth College grad), and Maggie Peng (UofT at Scarborough 2010).
The trio was prompted to start this venture to address a need they perceived for students to be able to access information in a timely manner without having to filter through unrelated and outdated content from the web. They also believed that this would be a great tool for students transitioning from high school to university as they may have more questions and need for information than professors teaching very large classes would be able to provide.
OneClass' site contains a gamut of tools from self-created lecture notes to study guides. There are also subject experts who create high quality video tutorials for common university subjects ranging from concepts within a textbook to step-by-step solutions to past exams. The site has helped over 400,000 students in North America sharing information about 30,000 different courses along with over 5,000 video tutorials.
